BUST MEMENTO MORI BISHOP AND SKULL Probably Austria, 18th/19th century Wood, sculpted, polychrome. H. 44, W. 33, D. 14 cm, weight approx. 1.98 kg. Depiction of a male bust, half of which is carved as a skull, wearing a mitre and an ornate robe. The motif symbolizes the duality of life and death and reminds us of the transience of life. Partially bumped, loss of paint.
