A RARE ICON SHOWING A SELECTION OF ANGELS AND PATRON SAINTS WITH DEISIS Russian, Syzran, late 19th century Tempera on wood panel with kovcheg. At center the Archangel Michael flanked by the Archangels Gabriel and Raphael accompanied by the youthful Tobias bearing a fish. In the background six saints: the Three Church Fathers, Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian and John Chrysostom; Sts. Samon, Guriy and Aviv. The upper border showing the Deisis. Four family patrons on the borders including the Guardian Angel. Within a floral gilt border on black ground. 31 x 26.2 cm.
