A RARE ICON SHOWING THE PRAISE OF THE MOTHER OF GOD (THE PROPHETS FORETOLD YOU) Russian, 18th century Tempera on wood panel. The haloes made of silver, covered by a golden lacquer. Four selected saints on the borders, the Guardian Angel among them. Damages to the reverse, the background stripped to gesso, partially restored. 35.8 x 31.1 cm.
