Description
A VERY RARE AND FINE ICON SHOWING THE OLD TESTAMENT TRINITY AND THE CREATION OF THE WORLD Russian, 17th century Tempera on wood panel with kovcheg. The haloes and background made of gold. The center is surrounded by eleven scenes depicting the Creation of the world as well as the creation of Adam and Eve, the Expulsion from Paradise, Noah's Ark, and the Hospitality of Abraham. The border of the icon stripped to the levkas, minimally restored. On the reverse Cyrillic restoration inscription, dated '1825'. 32.4 x 26.7 cm.
