A VERY FINE ICON SHOWING THE VLADIMIRSKAYA MOTHER OF GOD Russian, Moscow, late 15th century Tempera on wood panel with kovcheg. Executed on a gold ground. Painted in ochre colours, the Mother of God carrying Christ on her right arm, gesturing with her left hand towards her Son, the Christ Child pressing his cheek against his Mother's. Minimally restored. 31.3 x 25.5 cm.
