Description
A VERY FINE ICON OF THE MOTHER OF GODD' JOY TO ALL WHO GRIEVE' WITH A FINE SILVER-GILT RIZA Central Russian, early 19th century (icon), Russian, Moscow, Aleksey Fedorovitch Frolov, 1849 (riza) Tempera on wood panel. Finely executed in great detail. Painted finely with complimentary greens and reds, the garment folds emphasised with strong gold striations. The silver-gilt riza repoussé and chased with rocaille motifs. Marked with city hallmark, assayer's mark, 84 standard and master's mark 'AF' in Cyrillic. Partially restored. 36 x 31 cm.
