A VERY FINE ICON OF THE MOTHER OF GOD'THE PROPHECY OF SIMEON' WITH SILVER OKLAD Russian, early 19th century (icon), Russian Kaluga, 1836 (oklad) Tempera on wood panel with kovcheg, gold ground and border finely punched with vegetal motifs. The oklad of silver, heavily repoussé, struck with assayer's mark, city mark, '84' standard and master's mark. Minor indentations. 35.5 x 29.2 cm.
