A VERY FINE ICON WITH THE HOLY MONASTERY FOUNDERS SERGIUS AND GERMAN OF VALAAM Russian, St. Petersburg, Pesechonov Workshop, mid-19th century Tempera on wood panel, with gold ground, border ornamentally engraved and polychrome-accented, chrysography. Between the two saints, depicted in monastic habit, appears the Transfiguration of Christ Monastery founded by them. 31 × 26.3 cm.
