A FINELY PAINTED ICON SHOWING THE ARCHANGEL MICHAEL Russian, early 17th century Tempera on wood panel with double kovcheg. Standing, dressed in a cuirass and a long red cape. His prolonged wings outstretched, having pulled his sword out of its case, the Archangel raising it in an alerted manner. The background and border stripped to gesso, minor areas of retouching. 32 x 27.7 cm.
