A VERY FINE ICON SHOWING THE SAVIOUR WITH THE FEARSOME EYE WITH CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL RIZA Russian, 18th century Tempera on wood panel with kovcheg. The haloes made of gold. Christ portrayed bust-length, facing the viewer directly, with a severe expression, his hair terminating in curls laid on his right shoulder. Painted traditionally with deep colours. Two selected saints on the borders: the Guardian Angel and St. John the Forerunner. The metal riza finely engraved with scrolling foliage. Minor paint blisterings. 32.2 x 27.5 cm.
