A MONUMENTAL ICON OF THE TRANSFIGURATION OF CHRISTI FROM A CHURCH ICONOSTASIS Greek, circa 1700 Tempera on wood panel. The icon depicting the scene of the Transfiguration of Jesus on Mount Tabor in the presence of Christ`s closest disciples: Peter, John and James with Old Testament prophets, Moses and Elijah, standing to either side of Jesus. Executed predominantly reds on a gold ground. Min. vertical crack. 77.7 x 52.7 cm.
