A MONUMENTAL ICON SHOWING THE TIKHVINSKAYA MOTHER OF GOD FROM A CHURCH ICONOSTASIS Russian, probably Yaroslavl, late 18th century Tempera on wood panel, with kovcheg. Christ seated on his Mother's forearm in an upright position, holding a scroll and blessing, the Mother of God pointing towards him, both bearing prominent haloes. Rendered with red colours and dense chrysography. Vertical crack minimally restored, minor areas of retouching.
