A SMALL ICON OF THE PROPHET ELIJAH, HIS LIFE IN THE DESERT, AND HIS FIERY ASCENT TO HEAVEN Russian, late 18th century Tempera on a thin wood panel. Finely painted in bright colours on a gold ground. Two selected saints on the borders, St. Antipas among them. Areas of restoration to the edges, minor retouching. 21.4 x 18.3 cm.
