AN ART NOUVEAU ICON SHOWING THE KAZANSKAYA MOTHER OF GOD WITH A SILVER-GILT RIZA Russian, early 20th century (icon), Russian, Egor Cheryatov, 1908-1917 (riza) Oil on wood panel with brocade backing. Painted with sensitive modelled faces in naturalistic style and with refined stylized garments. The silver riza in Neo-Russian style with rhythmically applied floral motives. Struck with assayer's mark, 84 standard and maker's mark 'E.Ch' in Cyrillic. Partially restored. 26.5 x 22.2 cm.
