AN ICON SHOWING THE TIKHVINSKAYA MOTHER OF GOD WITH SILVER-GILT OKLAD Russian, 2nd half of the 19th century (icon), Russian, Moscow, Ivan Zaitsev, 1867 (oklad) Tempera on wood panel. The background made of silver, covered by a golden lacquer. The background decorated with engraved stylized patterns emulating the metal oklads of contemporary icons. The border of the silver-gilt oklad hammered with foliage and set with stones. Marked with city hallmark, assayer's mark, 84 standard and master's mark 'IZ'. Minor losses. 31 x 26.9 cm.
