AN ICON SHOWING THE MOTHER OF GOD 'HELPER IN BIRTH' WITH AN EMBROIDERED OKLAD Russian, circa 1800 (icon), Russian, circa 1800 (oklad) Tempera on wood panel. Executed on a gold ground. Paint blisterings, losses, partially restored. Overlaid with a metal riza chased with foliage. The robes embroidered with silver wire and seed pearls. Two selected saints on the borders, St. Afanasiy among them. 32.2 x 25.5 cm.
