A VERY FINE ICON SHOWING ST. NICHOLAS OF MYRA WITH A SILVER AND CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL OKLAD Russian, early 20th century (icon), Russian, Moscow, Nikolay Gratchev, 1908-1917 (oklad) Oil on wood panel. Painted naturalistically. Blessing and carrying the Gospels, flanked by the half-figures of Christ and his Mother, presenting him with the Gospelbook and the Bishop's omophorion respectively. The raised border of the silver-gilt oklad with hammered floral decoration With dedication inscription plaque at the botton in blue champlevé enamel. The halo in polychrome cloisonné enamel. Marked with assayer's mark, 84 standard and master's mark 'NG' in Cyrillic. 31.2 x 26.8 cm.
