AN ICON OF SAINT MAKARIY OF ZELTYE VODY WITH BASMA Russian, 16th century Tempera on wood panel with double kovcheg. Traditionally painted in strong colours, the Saint full length in attitude of prayer facing the Old Testamtent Trinity in the upper left corner. The borders overlaid with metal basma. Three selected saints on the borders. Border areas partly rubbed, partly restored. 37.3 x 31 cm.
