AN ICON SHOWING ST. DEMETRIUS OF SALONIKI WITH A SILVER BASMA Russian, 19th century (icon), 2nd half 20th century (basma) Oil on metal laid down on a wood panel with velvet backing. The borders overlaid with a silver parcel-gilt basma engraved with strapwork. Bearing spurious Russian hallmarks and master's mark 'P. OVCHINNIKOV' in Cyrillic. Minimally restored. Contained in fitted oak case. 27.5 x 29 cm.
