A RARE AND LARGE VITA ICON OF ST. PARASKEVA Russian, early 19th century Tempera on wood panel. The haloes made of gold. The martyr saint depicted frontally and full-length, surrounded by twelve scenes illustrating events from her life and her martyrdom. Rendered in a fine detailed manner with reds and greens. The faces modelled delicately with brown and lighter areas of pink, the elegant features more clearly defined with fine white brushstrokes. Minor areas od retouching. 53.3 x 44.6 cm.
