A LARGE AND FINE DATED MENOLOGICAL ICON FOR THE WHOLE YEAR WITH THE RESURRECTION, MAIN LITURGICAL FEASTS AND 68 IMAGES OF THE MOTHER OF GOD Russian, date 1897 Tempera on wood panel. The saints and festivals commemorated in each month depicted over three registers, starting at the upper left corner with September. Painted with deep colours on gold background. The border decorated with engraved stylized patterns emulating the metal oklads of contemporary icons. The reverse with '1897' dated name inscription in Cyrillic. Minimally worn. 53.3 x 44 cm.
