A VERY LARGE AND FINE ICON SHOWING ST. GEORGE SLAYING THE DRAGON Russian, 16th century Tempera on wood panel with kovcheg. The halo made of gold. The icon depicting St. George in full military uniform and red cape mounted on a white horse plunging his lance into the winged red dragon's open mouth. The border partially restored, minor areas of retouching. 54.7 x 49 cm.
