A LARGE ICON SHOWING THE DESCENT INTO HELL AND THE HARROWING OF HELL Russian, 17th century Tempera on wood panel with kovcheg. The haloes made of gold. Set into a later panel (vrezka). THe background and border stripped to gesso, partially restored. 37.5 x 31.8 cm.
