A LARGE ICON SHOWING THE MOTHER OF GOD OF KORSUN Russian, 18th century Tempera on wood panel. The bakcground made of silver, covered by a golden lacquer. The Mother tenderly embracing her son, him holding onto the edge of her maphorion and pressing his cheek against hers, executed in the traditional style. Christ's red cloak with dense gold brushstrokes. Two selected saints on the borders: Guardian Angel and St. Elena. Partially restored. 39.8 x 32.9 cm.
