A LARGE ICON SHOWING THE PROTECTING VEIL OF THE MOTHER OF GOD (POKROV) Russian, late 19th century Tempera on wood panel. The background made of silver, covered by a golden lacquer. The border decorated with engraved stylized patterns emulating the metal oklads of contemporary icons. Vertical cracks restored. 44.5 x 37.5 cm.
