A LARGE ICON SHOWING ST. NICHOLAS OF MYRA WITH A RIZA Russian, late 16th century (icon), Russian, 19th century (riza) Tempera on wood panel with double kovcheg. The elongated figure of the saint, depicted frontally, full-length, blessing and supporting the Gospels with his veiled hand. His expressive face rendered delicately, his opulent vestments executed with great precision. Executed against a golden background. Overlaid with a metal riza, the border chased with scrolling foliage. Partially restored. 36 x 28.8 cm.
