A LARGE DATED ICON SHOWING THE ASCENSION OF CHRIST Russian, dated 1805 Tempera on wood panel. Finely painted in pastel colours on a gold ground. Inscribed in Cyrillic on the lower edge: "This holy image was painted in the year 7313 since the creation of the world, on the 30th day of the month of June.". Two selected saints on the borders. Gilding partially worn, minor areas of retouching. 39.8 x 33.9 cm.
