A FINELY PAINTED SMALL ICON SHOWING THE HODIGITRIA MOTHER OF GOD Cretan, 15th century Tempera on wood panel. Finely painted on a gold ground. Depicted half length with the Child administering the blessing and supported on her right arm. The faces executed with contrasting priming colour and superimposed flesh tones, the flesh of both figures applied with spare and strongly accented white highlighting following the contours of the modelling. Vertical crack, minor losses, minor areas of retouching. 14.7 x 11.8 cm.
