A FINE ICON OF SAINT GREGORY OF NAZIANZUS WITH SILVER-GILT AND CHAMPLEVÉ ENAMEL OKLAD WITHIN KYOT Russian, late 19th century (icon), Russian, Moscow, Dmitriy Gordunov, 1889 (oklad) Oil on wood panel, silk covering on the reverse. The silver-gilt oklad chased and repoussé in high relief with foliage and flowers. The applied haloes and the name plaque in champlevé enamel. Struck with town mark, assayer's mark, 84 standard and master's mark 'DG' in Cyrillic. On the reverse a Cyrillic label: 'From the workshop of V. V. Demidov.' 31.2 x 26.5 cm / 56 x 36 cm (with glazed kyot).
