A FINE ICON OF CHRIST OF SMOLENSK THE SAVIOUR Russian, 19th century Tempera on wood panel. The haloes made of gold. Christ is depicted full-length standing on red cushions delivering a blessing with his right hand and with his left hand holding the Gospels open. A pair of angels hover near him. Two monastic saints kneeling in front of him, Sts. Sergey of Radonezh and Varlaam. Minor losses. 30.7 x 26.5 cm.
