A FINE AND RARE ICON SHOWING 'ALL SAINTS' Russian, Palekh, early 19th century Tempera on wood panel with kovcheg. The haloes and wings made of gold. Old and New Testament holy figures, grouped against arched settings, some with hands extended in prayer, one displaying a scroll, another bearing a Gospel Book; the top register focusing on the image of the New Testament Trinity in a circular, starry and rayed Glory, the Four Beasts of the Apocalypse appearing behind, the Mother of God and John the Baptist flanking the Pantokrator, thus forming a Deisis, surrounded by a large crowd of angles.
