A DATED ICON SHOWING THE MOTHER OF GOD 'JOY TO ALL WHO GRIEVE' Russian, dated 1821 Tempera on wood panel. Two selected saints on the borders, St. Daria among them. All bearing gilt haloes, painted finely with complimentary greens, blues and reds, the garment folds emphasised with strong gold striations. Dated in Cyrillic lower right. Minor vertical crack. 34.5 x 30.3 cm.
