A BYZANTINE ICON SHOWING THE RAISING OF LAZARUS Macedonian, 14th century Tempera on wood panel with kovcheg. Ecexuted on a gold ground. The swaddled figure of Lazarus emerging from the rock-cut tomb. In the foreground his sisters Martha, kneeling in prayer and Maria, prostrated stretching her hands to Christ. Himself extending his hand toward Lazarus. The event attended by apostels. Losses to the borders, restored. 23.7 x 20.3 cm. This icon was exhibited 1967 in the Künstlerhaus in Graz. See Christliche Kunst des europäischen Ostens. Ausstellung im Künsterhaus Graz, 14.
