A VERY FINE ICON SHOWING THE KAZANSKAYA MOTHER OF GOD WITH A SILVER RIZA Russian, Moscow, Orest Kurlyukov, dated 1912 (icon), Russian, Moscow, Orest Kurlyokov, 1908-1917 (riza) Tempera on wood panel with velvet backing. Christ shown as a boy, his chiton and himation with dense chrysography, the garments of the Mother of God with pearl-emulating arrangements. The silver riza tooled with detailed foliate scrolls. Marked with assayer's mark, 84 standard and master's mark 'O. KURLYUKOV' in Cyrillic. The back of the panel stamped and dated '1912'. 22.4 x 18 cm (without frame).
