A VERY FINE ICON SHOWING THE ENTHRONED CHRIST Russian, late 16th century Tempera on wood panel with double kovcheg. Seated on a wooden carved throne, in a double glory: the oval glory shaped by seven seraphims and the lozenge one having the Apocalyptic images of the four evangelists on its corners. The background and border stripped to gesso, minimally restored. 31 x 26 cm.
