NICHOLAS OF MYRA WITH A SILVER-GILT AND CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL OKLAD Russian, late 19th century (icon), Russian, Moscow, Semen Galkin, 1896-1908 (oklad) Oil on wood panel with velvet backing. Depicting the saint in half-length holding an enamelled New Testament in one hand and raising the other, with repoussé robes, his halo decorated with polychrome cloisonné enamel scrolls and beading, between Christ and the Mother of God in miniature behind him on floating clouds, also with repoussé robes and enamelled halo. Marked with assayer's mark, 84 standard and master's mark 'SG' in Cyrillic. 22.3 x 18 cm.
