A LARGE ICON SHOWING THE MOTHER OF GOD 'THE CONVERSER' (BESYEDNAYA) Russian, circa 1900 Oil on wood panel. Depicting the appearance of the Mother of God and St. Nicholas of Myra to the sexton Georgriy Iuruish, during which she ordered him to replace the iron cross on the church dedicated to her at Tikhvin with one of wood. The Mother of God is seated on the right side, Georgiy kneels before her. Gilding worn, restored. 39.8 x 35 cm.
