Description
IVAN PETROVICH TRUTNEV 1827 Likhvin - 1912 Vilnius 'FUNERAL' Oil on canvas. 61,5 x 96,5 cm (F. 79 x 114,5 cm). Monogrammed in Cyrillic lower left 'IT'. I.P. Trutnev - genre and icon painter as well as art teacher - studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg, where, after several years working abroad, he was awarded the title of Academician in 1868. Among his most important achievements was the founding of the Drawing School in Vilnius, which developed into the most important artistic educational institution in Lithuania and profoundly influenced the artistic training of the region.
