VIOLIN 'VINCENZO SANNINO', GUARNERI DEL GESÙ MODEL Rome, 1958 One-piece spruce top and maple back, light brown varnish. Full-size (4/4) violin, length 58.2 cm, body length 35.1 cm. Labelled "Vincenzo Sannino fece in Rome anno 1958", with cross and "gl 1e". Vincenzo Sannino is regarded as one of the leading representatives of 20th-century Neapolitan violin making and was known for his orientation towards classical Cremonese models. Characteristic of his work are the powerfully modelled body forms, pronounced archings and a vividly applied varnish. The present instrument is a high-quality example of Italian violin making of the 20th century. Partially bumped, rest. Expertise: Certificate by Gilles Chancereul, Paris, 2014.
