VIOLIN 'JOSEF BOHUMIL HERCLIK' Bohemia, 1944 Two-piece spruce top and maple back, reddish-brown varnish. 4/4 violin, L. 59.4 cm, body L. 36 cm. Label: 'Josef B. Herclik Houslar Mlada Boleslav 1944' and brand stamp 'J.B. Herclik'. Violin by the Bohemian violin maker Josef Bohumil Herclik, dated 1944. The term 'houslar' refers to the regional craft tradition of Bohemia, known since the 19th century for its high-quality stringed instruments. Minor repairs and bumped, minor crack in the top and rest. Provenance: Private collection, Czech Republic.
