VIOLIN LABELED 'MARCUS STAINER' Germany or Austria, 19th century. One-piece spruce top and maple back, brownish-orange varnish; in original 'Jäger' case. 4/4 violin, length 59.4 cm, body length 36 cm. Handwritten label: 'Marcus Stainer Bürgerlicher Lauten- und Geigenmacher in Kufstein in Tiroll 1647'. Partially bumped and rubbed; rest. Provenance: Private collection, North Rhine-Westphalia.
