VIOLIN LABELLED 'J.W. MOFFATT LONDON'* Probably England or Germany, circa 1900. One-piece spruce top and flamed maple back, brown varnish, ivory purfling to the ribs. Full-size (4/4) violin, length 59.5 cm, body length 35.5 cm. Branded "J.W. Moffatt London" to the back and stamped "No. 90 Hp/H3" to the scroll. Partially bumped, crack to the top, restored. Provenance: Estate from a German violin-making workshop. A CITES certificate is available.
