LUDWIG HÖFER 1899 - after 1974 CELLO, 'ANTONIUS STRADIVARIUS' MODEL Cologne, 1932 Two-piece spruce top and maple back, brown-orange varnish; includes gig bag. 4/4 size cello; total length approx. 123 cm, body length 75.5 cm. Cello label: "Ludwig Höfer, Fecit Coloniae Anno 1932". Ludwig Höfer (1899-after 1974) ran a renowned fine violin-making workshop in Cologne-Nippes and crafted high-quality string instruments based on classical models. A fine-quality cello by the Cologne maker, crafted in 1932 based on an Antonio Stradivari model. Part. bumped and rubbed; rest. Literature: Cf. Höfer: *Die Geige - Kunstgeigenbau Werkstätte Ludwig Höfer, Köln Nippes*, catalogue. Expertise: Original invoice from August 1942 included; certificate of authenticity from Ludwig Höfer (Cologne-Nippes), 1942.
