(PROBABLY) 1623 Füssen - after 1686 Venice MASTER VIOLIN Venice or Northern Italy, late 17th century or later One-piece spruce top and maple back, dark reddish-brown varnish; includes case. 4/4 violin; total length 59.2 cm, body length 35.5 cm. Handwritten label: "Micael Straub Venetiis 1678?" (likely Michael Straub II, workshop or successor). Widths: upper bout 16.7 cm, middle 11.4 cm, lower 20.7 cm; string length (stop) 19.5 cm. Partially bumped; back and top rest. Expertise: Certificate by Hans Edler (violin maker, Munich), October 1955. Provenance: Acquired in 1955 (original receipt included); in a private collection in Munich since then.
