DOUBLE BASS 'GÜNTER KRAHMER-PÖLLMANN' AND DOUBLE BASS BOW Mittenwald, 1963 Arched two-piece spruce top and maple back made of seasoned tonewood (dating from 1920); amber-colored oil varnish; gamba model. Length approx. 190 cm, body length 114 cm. Internal label: 'Pöllmann Geigenbaumeister Markneukirchen (Sachsen) Anno 1963 Spezialist für Kontrabaß- und Cellobau' [Master Violin Maker Pöllmann, Markneukirchen (Saxony), Year 1963, Specialist in Double Bass and Cello Making]. Pöllmann brand stamp below the back button. Body width 72 cm, rib depth 24 cm, string length 106 cm. African ebony fingerboard; carved ogee moldings running along the back, top, and ribs; individual tuning machines. Includes bag and bow. Double bass bow, 20th century; round stick, simple eye, bone tip plate, length 76 cm; bow unmarked and showing partial wear and damage. High-quality master double bass from the Pöllmann workshop in Mittenwald, crafted in 1963 by Günter Krahmer-Pöllmann. The instrument was created using traditional craftsmanship. Characteristic features include the elegant gamba shape, the arched back, and the finely carved ogee moldings. Double bass part. bumped, damg. and rubbed; rest.
