Description
BENT-NECK LUTE 'JEAN PAUL KOVALCZYK' Freiburg im Breisgau, 1980, in the style of the 16th century. Lute of spruce and maple, pear-shaped bowl back, flat soundboard with hand-carved rosette, attached bent neck with pierced pegbox, strung in 10 courses. Length 77 cm, width 32 cm, string length 28.5 cm. Lute label: "Jean Paul Kovalczyk en 1980 à Freiburg im Breisgau d'après in Padova Michiell Harton". The bent-neck lute is a traditional stringed instrument used particularly in folk music of various cultures, characterised by its distinctive angled neck connecting the body to the pegbox. Min. rubbed. Provenance: Rhenish private collection.
