CELLO 'WILHELM SCHLICK' Probably Dresden, around 1870 Two-piece spruce top and maple back, dark brown varnish, with bag. 4/4 violoncello L. 122, body L. 75 cm. Cello label: 'Wilhelm Schlick K.S. Kammermusikus Dresden 1870'; according to tradition, the instrument was nicknamed 'Die Wehmut'. Scale length approx. 41.1 cm, body width 12 cm, neck length 27.6 cm, overall length 69 cm. German cello from the workshop of Wilhelm Schlick, dated to the second half of the 19th century. Schlick is one of the established representatives of Vogtland string instrument making. Best., part. rep., rest. Provenance: Estate of cellist Dr. Else Schmid - private collection, southern Germany.
