Description
CELLO SIR ILLNER RIEDL Bubenreuth, 20th century. Two-piece spruce top and flamed maple back, dark red varnish, with bag. 4/4 cello, l. 129,5cm, body l. 75,5 cm. Branded 'SIR' and cello label: 'SIR Bubenreuth Germany Spezial Cellobau Illner Riedl Anno 1998'. Spezial Cellobau H. Illner 1992 awarded 'Best of Sound' and 'of Merit' Manchester International Cello Festival'. The 'Manchester International Cello Festival' was described as Europe's most important competition for violin makers. As a result, Helmut Illner prevailed against more than thirty competitors from different countries in 1992. The following year Illner submitted another cello to participate in the same competition and again won the prize for the best cello sound. Min. rubbed and bumped, tuning required.
