TABERNACLE 18th/19th century Wood, gilded, front with painted depiction of Christ wearing a crown of thorns. H. 48, W. 52, D. 32 cm. Inscription: 'Respice in Facien Christi Tui', Christ sig. and dated '1877'. Small gilded tabernacle shrine with painted door showing Christ with a crown of thorns. The inscription "Respice in faciem Christi tui" (Look upon the face of your Christ) refers to the contemplative moment and the Eucharistic significance of the object. Partially bumped.
