SANTI CORSI 1871 Castelfranco di Sotto - active in Florence IDEALIZED HARBOR VIEW WITH SHIPS AND STAFFAGE Oil on canvas. 75 x 122 cm (f. 78 x 127 cm). Verso inscribed: "Santi Corsi, M. Grant, Firenze, Galleria Pitti, Lung'Arno Torrigiani No. 17." Framed. Santi Corsi, born in 1871 in Castelfranco di Sotto near Pisa, studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence and established his studio on today's Lungarno Serristori, just a few steps from the Palazzo Pitti. He became known primarily for his detailed depictions of the rooms of the Palazzo Pitti, many of which are held in international museum collections. The present work is a copy after a painting by a 17th century master from the collection of the Palazzo Pitti, as confirmed by the inscription on the reverse. Provenance: Private collection.
